Give a break to your smart phone, make a difference.

It is water month and UNICEF its celebrating  it with their  campaign called the Tap Project, which invites smart phone users to set their phones aside for ten minutes to provide a day of water for communities in need.

     What is the Tap project?

It’s a Nation wide campaign that provides potable water and sanitation to children in need around the world. Joining this campaign is very simple: First open the App through the UNICEF website on a smart phone. Once the App is open on the smart phone, the program tracks when the phone is not being use. For every ten minutes the phone is not used donators and sponsors of the Tap Project will donate a day of clean water for a child in need.

     Why is this Project important?

Water is essential for life; the human body is made up of about 60% of water. Water is needed for survival. However, not everyone has access to clean water to consume. 768 million people around the world do not have access to potable water and 2.5 billion people do not have access to a proper toilet. The lack of these essential resources has been the leading death of 1,400 children. With just one dollar UNICEF can provide potable water to a child for 40 days.
