My Dallas Saint Patrick’s Day Experience

My Dallas Saint Patrick’s Day Experience

My Dallas Saint Patrick’s Day Experience was amazing.

I had never experienced St. Patrick’s Day in Dallas until this past Saturday. I  heard it was a great time, but was not totally convinced.  Now I know what all the crave is about .

I had no idea it was truly as big of a deal as people had given off. When I arrived at the St. Patrick’s Day Grounds, which were located on Greenville Street near the SMU campus, the herds of people shocked me. I had never seen so many people gathered for a holiday in Dallas. http://www.greenvilleave.org/st-patricks-day/I instantly started to recall what my boyfriend’s brother described the event as.  He would say it was… “the best in Dallas”, “what Dallas should be known for”, “what Dallas will be know for”, “the only cool, big, holiday event in Dallas”, and he was right. I instantly felt like I was at Marti Gras because there were beads flying everywhere. I’m sure it didn’t hurt the day’s publicity that it was announced via Facebook, Twitter and websites and the fact that Snoop Dog performed as the headliner. http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/dc9/2013/03/st_patricks_day_dallas_photos.php I mean, who doesn’t like the “dog?” I know I do! The concert was set up in a parking lot, with tickets started at fifteen dollars, which was very reasonable price. The bars on Greenville Ave. were also hoping during the extravaganza. There were even out door drink and food stands everywhere along the streets, which was awesome. The fact that Dallas allowed an open container policy on the streets that day also made it quite like Marti Gras. The only downfall to the day was the crime that occurred because my friends recall seeing a bloody faced man, which evidenced a fight that occurred. http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2013/03/dallas-gears-up-for-annual-st-patricks-day-parade-on-greenville-avenue.html/ However, besides that incident, I have not heard of much crime that occurred. Because of this, I hope that Dallas’s Saint Patrick’s Day keeps its good reputation and becomes bigger and bigger each year.
