A Millennial’s Perspective on Apple’s iPhone 7

We all want something bigger and better, but does Apple’s iPhone 7  truly entice us to buy?

Another iPhone update is at it again. Sure, the product comes in a new color called “jet black” and has some additionally features, but is Apple’s iPhone 7 really life changing? Is this something we cannot live without? Most expect millennials to want the next best thing, especially when it is an Apple product. (It is not like their target audience are my tech un-savy parents.) Of course the latest devices are always tempting, but as a college student I always have to keep my budget in mind.

Are these small, subtle advances really enough for me to live on easy-mac and ramen noodles? I think not. After all, my iPhone 5 survived the bathtub with the help of some rice. That seems pretty “water resistant” to me.

As an avid photographer, I was curious to hear about the updated camera(s). Did you know Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus has two? But even then, I can’t justify hanging up my Canon. Besides, the true icing on the cake is the removal of the headphone jack.

Yes, you heard me correctly. Now all we have is the radio when it comes to playing music in an Uber. The phrase “do you have an AUX cord” shall be struck from the English language. Not only will the basic Apple earbuds become a thing of the past, but the new wireless version will just become something easy to lose. Tech blog Gizmodo thinks so too. Also, as if remembering to carry a phone charger wasn’t hard enough, we now to charge our headphones as well.

I am not trying to discredit Apple’s enticing new design and updating features, but I feel as though my familiar friend still has some growing up to do. I am extremely loyal to my tech from Apple, but even with this impressive iPhone 7 product launch, I am not convinced this is the next step for me.
