Why the Music Industry Needs Taylor Swift

She has transitioned flawlessly from country twang to pop music.  She is a talented songwriter.  She sells out stadiums in minutes.  But most of all, she has a heart big enough to love the entire world if she could.  If you don’t know who I’m talking about you clearly have been living under a rock for the past week.  The lady who has stolen the hearts of many within the music industry is no other than Taylor Swift. You can love her, you can hate her, but there is no denying the fact that this woman has become the face of a movement to better the media and music industry as a whole.  The music industry needs more people like Taylor Swift.

We all wonder, why is Taylor Swift so undeniably popular? She has millions of followers on all social media handles, albums that sell incredible amounts and more.  In fact, according to Billboard magazine, Taylor Swift’s 1989 was the best selling album since 2002.  That’s 12 years everyone. 12 YEARS.  Let me rephrase this. Taylor Swift’s new album has been the most successful selling album in all of music SINCE 2002. Wow.

Of course the lady is talented.  She started as a songwriter in Nashville, one of the most prestigious cities to graduate from within music.  But it’s more than her music that drives her sales.  Yes, Taylor knows how to make a catchy tune that anyone can listen to, but there is something else to the blonde-haired blue-eyed beauty that resonates with her listeners. Taylor Swift believes in her music and stays true to her own beliefs, something very rare within female musicians of our time.

Taylor Swift has made it clear that she believes in feminism, that women should have the same chances and treatment as men within society.  In a recent article with Cosmopolitan Magazine, Taylor addressed the idea of  women being called “sluts” when they a certain amount of men within a period of time, whereas men are considered “heros.” To be outspoken on such a topic and eloquently hold herself in the situation, Taylor Swift proves she can handle anything.

She is a true role model for the girls who have no one to look up to.  Taylor Swift listens to her fans, engages with them, guides them and gives them advice for their futures with not only her songs but with her compassion and heart.  In the 21st century, she is a rare object.  We need more people like her within media today to show us that being kind really does make a difference.  Mostly that being kind isn’t difficult, your individual personality is what makes you so special and that to be successful in life you just have to love what you do.  Now, how can you argue with that?
