Watch out Spotify, Apple Music is in Town

Not only did the new iOS update bring you 150 new emojis and new fun features, but Apple has launched a new music feature that will give Spotify a run for its users.

With a flat fee, you are given a magic key to the millions of songs iTunes has to offer. Not only is it simply a flat fee, all iOS devices have the feature pre-installed on all updated apple devices. The major difference here, between iTunes and the new Apple Music, is media ownership. You will not physically own a specific track or album, but just have complete access to all of iTunes’ music library.

  1. Beats 1: the radio-like feature that brings DJs from all around the world to your apple device.
  2. Connect: this feature allows artists to connect to fans by allowing subscribers to follow certain artists.

What is the cost to have access to 30 million tracks offered by iTunes, a radio feature and a connection to your favorite artists? A single subscription is $9.99 per month and a family subscription is $14.99 per month. Spotify currently goes for the same rate, however Spotify offers a free subscription but includes ads (which Apple Music does not have).

Is this replacing the traditional iTunes? No, the classic process of buying media is still an option for iTunes users. However, Apple Music gives you the ability to listen to every song iTunes has…now thats a lot of songs. So, what out Spotify…Apple Music is in town.
