Social Media Today Influences Fashion Forward Businesses

As we know social media is growing to become something that we never thought would happen. Since working in the industry of fashion, I have noticed that social media is key for advertising about social events. Certain businesses such as Neiman Marcus have their own social media coordinator to run their sites. In my opinion this is helpful for a business because these days, social media requires so much attention regarding feedback and announcements.

Here are a few ways on how social media is influencing fashion today.

Facebook is known to be one of the top growing sites to advertise for business whether it’s marketing, fashion or sales. Most companies use Facebook to advertise and communicate to their audience who they are and what they offer.

Twitter is seen as the short phrased social media site that offers quick updates on events or promos that the company is hosting. In my opinion, Twitter is a better site for fashion businesses because it provides quick and short information to their followers.

Instagram is another site that works really well for fashion companies because it’s all about pictures. Who doesn’t like scenery! I know all the fashionistas do! People love to follow their favorite fashion lines or even fashion week trends to stay updated on new fashion forward items through photos.

LinkedIn can be tricky for fashion because it’s known for business research. Yes fashion is an industry of its own but LinkedIn is very specific to whom they target when we talk business.

YouTube is strictly for videos. In fashion terms, runway shows are key for YouTube because this is where we can watch fashion week madness from our computers. Then we post videos to our social media sites for others to view.

Blogs, of course, is one of the main fashion go-to outlets. Blogs can either be pictorial only or can consist of writing and pictures. Some of the hottest blogs are pictorial only and underneath they post what they are wearing with a link attached to buy the item. Some bloggers get paid for their blog posts through how many hits and views they receive on their blogs.

Can you believe that all these social media sites are a huge trend for fashion today? Believe it because it’s only going to grow over the next few months. Each site is filled with fashion forward information and anyone can get access to these sites. Stay connected with your favorite collections through social media and maybe one day you will be in the position to work in social media for a fashion company!
