Selfie360 app puts a new spin on selfies.

It’s simple: flip the view on your smartphone, hold it at a high angle, turn to your best side, and with a click of your button there you have it, your own piece of social media’s most popular brand of self-indulgent narcissism — the selfie. Just when you thought the age of the selfie had reached its apex, Selfie360 puts a new spin on last year’s most popular digital trend.

Taking your selfie to a whole new dimension Selfie360, the newest development from Egos Ventures, transforms any selfie from dull to animated. Slightly narcissistic and even more ingenious, welcome the latest addition to apps capitalizing on our selfie obsession.

From the makers of Cycloramic, an app that automatically rotates your phone hands-free, Ego Ventures used this same technology to create Selfie360 an innovative app for photographing your best side from every side. This app brings your digital self-portraits to life by showing yourself in 3D or in a full 360 degree panorama of your surroundings.

Panorama animated Selfie360

Selfie360 takes your photo and after eight simple steps will then export a 3D GIF to the social networking site of your choosing. The app gives you three options for animating your selfie: portrait, panorama, or full. The portrait selfie allows users to create a shorter GIF with an animated 90 degree rotation of your portrait starting from the left profile moving across to the right profile. A 360 degree animated panorama of your surroundings where you are the center of the scene is made possible with the panorama selfie. The last option offered is the full 3D selfie which is a 360 degree 3D animation of someone or something where subjects are the center of the scene as they rotate in the middle of it.

Once users are finished creating their animated self portrait, a human double checks the selfie to make sure it doesn’t have any explicit content (sorry no nudes or illegal substances allowed), and then it goes live on the app’s public feed. Users are also given the option to share the GIF on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and several other social networks.

As of now the feed is public for all Selfie360 users to see. According to founder Bruno Francois the team plans to add a follow-based structure letting users customize their feed. Features such as hashtags, search, direct messages and geo-location will be added to the app in the future.

Among the countless apps built around the selfie phenomenon, Selfie360 is the first to fusing selfies and GIFS into one enslaving, yet spectacular combination. This app is one to watch where bringing together social media and the wonders of today’s hand-held technology.
