Running a successful Facebook business page can be time consuming. But it is important to help your business succeed. Facebook makes it easy by guiding you through your setup. They also give you tools and resources to help. Some of the best tools that they offer have to do with responding to comments and messages.
Messenger for Business Pages
Setting up your Facebook business page messenger is easy. Facebook not only walks you through it, they have a to-do list with suggestions on how to be successful. One of the suggestions is setting up conversation starters. Even giving tips that “people are more likely to message businesses that have set up conversation starters.” Conversation starters are set to pop up in messenger when someone visits your page. It may include some facts about your company or if someone is actively monitoring your page, may ask how they can help. The second very helpful tip that Facebook offers is to earn the “Very Responsive Page” badge and they tell you how you can earn it. Their suggestions include check your inbox, respond and reply quickly.
Within Facebook messenger, there are tools to help manage messages. One of these tools is assigning a conversation to specific person. If there are multiple page administrators, they all have the ability to respond. So when a message comes in that a certain admin is responsible for answering, the conversation can be assigned to that admin. Other tools help to manage the status of the conversation. You can mark for “follow up,” or if the task is complete, mark it as “complete.”
The one downfall of using messeger on your business page is that you cannot initiate a conversation. For instance, if a customer leaves a credit card in your store, you cannot use messenger to contact that customer.
Comment Responses
When running a business page, comments regardless of positive or negative are inevitable. You should never turn off comments because you need feedback to understand what you are doing right and wrong. If the comment is positive, be grateful in your response. When the comments are negative, ask how you could do better. Recognize that no one is perfect and we all have room to improve.
