Greek Invasion

Chobani

Greek yogurt is just one of the many health food crazes and that’s because it’s crazy good. Don’t let the name fool you; this yogurt is not from Greece. Instead, the word “Greek” describes how the yogurt is made through centuries-old straining technique.

Everyone has a favorite brand and mine is mostly definitely Chobani Greek Yogurt. Chobani is free of artificial sweeteners, gluten, gelatin and other animal-based thickeners. With 13-18g of protein in each 60z cup, Chobani helps you fuel your tank without draining your wallet. While Chobani is more expensive than regular yogurt, you’ll be full and buying fewer snacks from vending machines.

Chobani Conversions

Yogurt is not that interesting, I know, but it’s what you can do with Chobani that makes it so great. Besides eating it with granola, fruit or as a snack, Chobani can be used as abaking substitute. It found this great chart of conversions while playing around on Pinterest the other day. I haven’t had a chance to make any substitutions yet, but I can’t wait until the next time I bake a cake.

For those who are a little less inclined to bake but still love using Chobani in their food, there are many other options. Green Mountain Farms offers a cream cheese and Greek yogurt blend. It has twice the normal amount of protein than their regular cream cheese and only half of the fat. Eat Well Enjoy Life has Low-Fat Greek Yogurt hummus, which has half of the normal calories. Ben & Jerry’s has even gotten in on the action with their Greek frozen yogurt.

Other yogurt brands include Light & Fit, FAGE, Oikos, Greek Gods, and Cabot. For those of you interested in trying out Chobani or just want more information, go to their website. The website features life tweets from fellow Chobani lovers. Chobani is also very active on Twitter or Instagram.  Chobani is truly the best though and I recommend it to anyone who wants to get on the Greek yogurt bandwagon.
