Smartphones explode as Blackberry hits rock bottom

As smartphones continue to dominate as the preferred choice of mobile phone, the old-fashioned Blackberry is practically extinct.

With T-Mobile being one of Blackberry’s major carriers for the past several years, they decided to end their deal due to Blackberry’s lack of consumer use. Following a predicament between the two companies a couple of months ago, Blackberry has officially announced that they will no longer allow the wireless carrier to sell any of its products. Blackberry and T-mobile had success for many years, however it is time to move on. Blackberry still ensures that customers will still receive the same service and support that has always been guaranteed.

“BlackBerry has had a positive relationship with T-Mobile for many years,”  said BlackBerry boss John Chen. “Regretfully, at this time, our strategies are not complementary and we must act in the best interest of our BlackBerry customers. We hope to work with T-Mobile again in the future when our business strategies are aligned.”

T-Mobile recognizes that with Blackberry’s market share in the US at an ultimate low, it is a lucrative time for change. This became evident back in February when T-Mobile emailed its Blackberry customers with a “great offer” persuading them to switch to their ultimate rival, the Apple iPhone. Undoubtedly, this caused social media uproar for loyal Blackberry users. Many vented their anger on Twitter, expressing their disappointment with T-Mobile boss John Chen.

The boss responded to the media outrage stating that, “We give our customers choices, but you don’t have to give up your loyalty. We will continue to support.” He then thanked all of his company’s Blackberry users for expressing their outrage and that their ill-conceived promotion was not appropriate nor reconcilable.

In essence, the termination between the two companies only explains the obvious: that smartphones, especially iPhones are in the eyes of consumers. With social media at a high, the accessibility of communicating through smartphones has only begun. The new apps and software enhancements that have been installed in these devices still astound many, even as the revelation of technology continues to flourish.
