Ever run into a secret-service agent on your way to class?
..Well, that’s exactly what happened to me this week on campus. Southern Methodist University has been a bit more chaotic than normal thanks to the grand opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
After being under construction for my last year & a half of school, SMU is proud to announce the finished library and open its doors Thursday, April 25th. Along with President George W. Bush, Dallas is hosting all four of America’s living presidents: President Obama, President Clinton, President George H. W. Bush, and President Carter. As one can imagine, with the most elite group of men on our campus comes the most elite security. Especially considering the tragic acts of violence America has encountered the past few months, everyone is praying that our campus and the Dallas metroplex stay safe.
I feel very excited & privileged to be a student during this historic time, and look forward to partaking in the festivities this week. The new building is gorgeous, staying in theme with the Jeffersonian architecture that covers the rest of the campus. The only thing setting this building apart from the rest is that it is dedicated to one of America’s honorable leaders and is equipped with the latest technology from floor-ceiling.
So here’s to George W. Bush and the monumental addition to the SMU campus!
