SMU Experience

I have had a very positive experience at SMU. Ever since middle school, I knew I wanted to come to SMU. When I found out I was accepted, I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to begin my college career. It seems like just yesterday when I was standing outside my house and opening my acceptance letter to Southern Methodist University.

It wasn’t until sophomore year that I decided I wanted to become a Communications major. I originally wanted to be a Business major, however, after one of the entry-level classes with Rita Kirk and Dan Shill, I knew Communications was the way to go. Looking back, I got to know many of my teachers on a personal basis and feel that I am well prepared for the real world.

The one thing I wish SMU had were better sports and more school spirit. While the boulevards are one of the charms of SMU, no one attends the football games. Out of all my years being here, I only attended three football games.

I am excited to embark on the next phase of my life. Though I am looking forward to Graduation, it is still a bittersweet milestone.  I have loved getting to know the city of Dallas. I could have never been in a small city without all the excitement a big city has to offer. SMU has prepared me to successfully take part in the working world and to become an accomplished and headstrong woman!
