Ten 50 BBQ

For anyone in Dallas this summer, here is the newest BBQ restaurant coming to you:

Ten 50 BBQ

BBQ is a staple food of Texas, especially in the summer, and if anyone knows a thing or two about opening restaurants, it’s Ten 50 BBQ owner, Larry Lavine. That’s right folks, LARRY LAVINE! If you do not know who Larry Lavine is… well I’m judging you… but anyway, he founded Chili’s back in 1975.

With extensive knowledge of the restaurant business, Lavine plans on opening his BBQ restaurant this June or July. It will be 10,000 square feet and seat 275 people. Its location will be 1050 N. Central Expressway, hence the name Ten 50. The restaurant will have a unique feature where customers will get their BBQ meats outside from the smokers before proceeding inside to get sides, drinks, and desserts. This will give Ten 50 an authentic, wood-fire BBQ touch.

According to Lavine, he and his team have “traveled the state over many years sampling the best BBQ and talking to top pitmasters, from highly acclaimed BBQ joints like Franklin and Snow’s to hole-in-the-wall places.” With that said, Dallas will be expecting nothing but perfection from Mr. Lavine.

The Ten 50 menu is said to include: BBQ ribs, brisket, chicken, smoked turkey and sausage plus flash fried fries, fresh vegetable platters, homemade pickles and fresh baked cornbread. Some side dishes will be German potato salad with house smoked bacon, twice baked potato casserole, mac and cheese, fresh vegetables and 6 hour South Texas pinto beans. Oh wait, and did I mention home-made pies for dessert?! YUM!

If this restaurant becomes a success in Richardson, Lavine hopes to expand in the future as a possible nationwide chain. Now if my prediction is correct, I suspect Ten 50 BBQ to be a top DFW area BBQ joint in no time! The combination of Central-Texas style BBQ and Lavine’s restaurant magic will definitely have my taste buds tingling until the restaurant’s opening!
