Instagram Debuts 30-Second Video Ads

Advertisers given extra seconds to please their customers. Instagram debuts 30-second video ads for marketers.

Facebook’s Instagram is one of the most popular social networking apps around, and it offers a great way for marketers to show another side of their brands by producing short, humorous videos. Prior to November 2014, brands needed customers to follow them on Instagram to see their videos, but that has changed.  Instagram debuts 30-second video ads for marker’s on a wide scale, with Fox television network being one of the first to jump on this new advertising opportunity this week.

Fox is going to Instagram to spread the word about its fall shows using a new kind of ad called “Marquee”. The network launched the campaign Wednesday, September 9, to promote its latest television programs, “Scream Queens,” “Grandfathered,” “Grinder” and “Minority Report.”

In addition to the U.S. and other big markets, advertisers can now buy ads on Instagram in more than 30 new countries, including Italy, Spain, Mexico, India and South Korea, the company announced in a blog post Wednesday. Instagram, which says it has 300 million users, plans to launch self-service ad buying in additional markets around the world Sept. 30.

Marquee is designed to “drive mass awareness” in a short time-frame by pushing the promos in front of a large number of users, according to Instagram. “Scream Queens,” slated to premiere Sept. 22, stars Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Billie Lourd and Abigail Breslin.

Instagram is expected to scream its way into $2.8 billion in ad sales by 2017, according to eMarketer.
