YouTube Heroes: YouTube Defeats Cyberbullying

This past week, YouTube defeats cyberbullying- YouTube launched YouTube Heroes, a new program that rewards people for reporting bad comments, writing accurate subtitles and answering forum questions to help improve the site.

YouTube defeats cyberbullying this past week by launching a new plan called YouTube Heroes. The goal of this plan is to receive more reports about bad comments by getting the community involved. YouTube employees are still the ones who will literally remove the bad comments and approve good subtitles on the website. However, this plan will hopefully motivate the community to report bad comments more often, which will help the actual moderation team get to these comments faster.

Youtube Defeats Cyberbullying YouTube defeats cyberbullying by adding rewards to the process in hopes to give members incentive to help. According to The Verge, users can win many different rewards by making positive contributions as a YouTube Hero. These rewards include invitations to video chats and ”exclusive workshops”  and the ability to test out prerelease YouTube products.

YouTube Heroes will earn points for their contributions and unlock different levels of rewards throughout the process. It takes a great amount of time and effort to get rewarded as a YouTube Hero. The Verge reported that a member would have to accurately report 1,000 bad comments before reaching the highest rewards tier. This will hopefully motivate users to actually put effort into improving the site as YouTube defeats cyberbullying.

How Do You Get Involved?

If you want to join YouTube Heroes as YouTube defeats cyberbullying, YouTube has a sign-up page that can be filled out quickly and easily. Any users that have previously gotten in trouble for posting bad comments are not allowed to join to ensure that YouTube finds a trustworthy and reliable team. YouTube Heroes gives users a sense of responsibility and independence that will hopefully bring more positivity and optimism to the website’s overall tone.
