Prostitution on LinkedIn?

Are you in search of an escort? Hunting for a prostitute’s services? Look no further than LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a social network is intended to connect people in professional occupations. However, the website has accidentally welcomed prostitutes/escorts to use its platform.

Prostitutes and escorts (both male and female) have created LinkedIn profiles to advertise their services in what they consider a “professional manner.” In fact, prostitution is a skill that you can be endorsed for. As the prostitute community became more prevalent on LinkedIn, the site began to take notice. In May of 2013 the creators of LinkedIn finally imposed restrictions on this particular industry stating, “thou shall not, even if it is legal, create profiles or provide content that promotes escort services or prostitution.”

These impositions have not fully dismantled the prostitution community on LinkedIn. Prostitute professionals disguised their solicitations within the massage industry and further detail their services in the job description.

As you can imagine, the prostitution businesses in Nevada did not appreciate the site’s restrictions. Some Nevada “businesswomen” (as they consider themselves) believe that they have “legal businesses in reality, so why shouldn’t they have a presence in virtual reality?”

  1. OMG…. this is just ridiculous. I mean I know these prostitutes need to make money somehow but LinkedIn is a professional networking site. Obviously, they are proud of what they do…. I enjoyed your humor and sarcasm in this post too

  2. WOW. I am currently working on my LinkedIn profile so “LinkedIn” caught my attention, then I realized it was in reference to prostitution so naturally I was confused and curious. The fact that some people are trying to make a well known business application and turn it into this is baffling. Good job presenting the information in a humorous and interesting manner.

  3. This is utterly ridiculous! I could imagine The Onion making LinkedIn parody accounts for drug dealers and strippers as well. Due to the ethical and moral implications of prostitution, I believe this kind of service is best left off of sites such as LinkedIn. If someone is really truly searching for prostitution, they will find it. People have had no trouble finding connections in the prostitution market long before LinkedIn ever existed because the market has it’s own internal connectedness system. This however is an excellent observation Katelyn! I just wonder what the world is coming too!
