Set aside the juice-cleanse and get ready to binge because you can’t call yourself a true Texan like Big Tex if you don’t let yourself indulge.

Big Tex Recommendations: Plates You Can’t Resist

Image of the Big Tex's favorite dishes: the funnel cake ale and fried shrimp boil

Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil, Big Tex “Best Taste” Winner—Anything you could imagine in a shrimp boil rolled up in one: baby gulf shrimp, diced red potatoes, onions, lemon, and seasoning. Breaded and deep-fried…to. die. for.

Funnel Cake Ale, Big Tex “Most Creative” Winner—Justin Martinez took home an award with the only non-fried food in the contest. The light ale is reminiscent of the classic, unique flavors of the fair—funnel cake! A bit of sweetness tops off the crisp, refreshing original brew. Optional: rim coated with powdered sugar. YUM…

If you’re looking for another fried delectable dig into other Big Tex Finalist plates: Chicken Fried Loaded Baked Potato, Deep Fried “Breakfast for Dinner,” Deep Fried Brisket, Deep Fried Texas Bluebonnet, Fried Sweet Texas, Twisted Texas Taco or Fried Sriracha Balls.

If this doesn’t have your mouth watering, I don’t know what will. Let loose and live a little, fried concoctions like these are only available until October 19. Trust me and Big Tex, it’s worth it.
