iPhone Flop

Despite predictions that the iPhone 5c would be a top seller, the products sales have not gone as Apple would have hoped. Tailored to kids, or people whom need an extra protection for their phone, the iPhone 5c has not been selling.

To consumers, the color palette and style of the mobile device have turned people off, the opposite of what Apple predicted. Where the 5s has soared, the 5c has flopped.

Apple is still selling the phone for the original value, however resellers such as Walmart and Best Buy have found ways to get the phone off the shelves. Walmart lowered the price of the phone from $79 to $45 for the holiday season and RadioShack is giving away $50 gift cards to apply toward the purchase of an iPhone 5c.

Apple’s thinking was that they could brand a product to a younger generation instead of just professional. Not only do the new phones look like a children’s toy, but they new iOS also looks “childish.” The tagline for the 5c, “For the Colorful,” seems to try to bring in people who are looking to break apart from the pack, the rebels set apart from the business people. I’m all for standing out, I don’t even have an iPhone. But just take a look at the 5c’s and see for yourself…its not the most appealing color scheme. And on average, most people have their phones for about whole years. Can you imagine being stuck with one color for two whole years?

So would you choose the 5c or the 5s? Is the look of your phone more important than the price?
