The twitter bot, @tofu_product, that was developed is supposed to “write like you.” The catchy name stems from the creator thinking that is was fitting because the bot is designed to absorb information from past tweets like tofu. People love this app because it creates catchy and comical responses based off of their previous tweets.
The programmer Joseph Toscano created @tofu_product because he thought it would be a fun, amusing and an interactive way to gain source material from the thousands of statuses people post everyday. This account has over 2,000 followers thus far and is continuing to grow daily since more and more people are becoming addicted to this creepily on-point bot. In order for the bot to work you have to tweet at @tofu_product and its response will be similar to your past tweets. The bot is absorbing the heavy flow of information that circulates through twitter everyday and products tweets that are incredibly close to those who tweet back.
Toscano said that the bot is written using Apple-sponsored technologies like Objective-C, clang, Cocoa, and llibdispatch. However, he likes to keep the algorithm that the bot uses as a secret. Whatever the secret is, it seems to be working and entertaining its followers with the riddle like replies or creepily spot-on responses. @tofu_product is 100% a bot that is there for mere entertainment purposes.
