Batkid Saves Gotham City

Batkid Saves Gotham City

Attention Gotham City, I mean San Francisco, there is a new hero in town and he goes by the name of Batkid. This five year old is here to fight crime, all before bedtime.

On Friday, November 15th, 2013, the City of San Francisco granted young Miles Scott his Make-A-Wish dream to be Batman for a day. Five-year old Miles was diagnosed with leukemia at 18-months and is currently in remission after several treatments.

With the assistance of over 15,000 locals, San Francisco transformed into Gotham City for the day to fulfill Miles wish. The Make-A-Wish team hired professional actors staged around the city and with the cooperation of the police, shut down parts of San Francisco. The plan for Miles was to first rescue a woman from cable car tracks in Nob Hill. Then, capture the Riddler in the act of robbing a downtown bank. Followed by saving a penguin from kidnapping and finally he will receive a key from the major at the end of the day.

The day of the event, Miles, a.k.a. Batkid saves Gotham City from evil captors and lives out his dream of being Batman for a day. This touching story has garnered nationwide attention and has stolen the hearts of Batman and Non-Batman fans alike.

  1. I absolutely love this story. It made me cry. I love that so many people joined in to make sure this kid had an amazing day. I would have LOVED to be a part of this!

  2. I saw this picture posted on my Facebook today. I adore this little guy. The picture said something like “it’s not the man underneath the suit that matters, it’s that actions that make the man.” It was too adorable.
