Fiesta: A San Antonio, TX Tradition
Fiesta in San Antonio, Texas, is a spring festival held annually since 1891. It all began with a celebration to honor the heroes of the Alamo and Battle of San Jacinto, with a parade called, “Battle of Flowers.” The first parade had horse-drawn carriages, bicycles decorated with fresh flowers and floats carrying children dressed as flowers.

To this day, around April, 21st, the Battle of Flowers parade takes place, and it is the largest parade in all of the Fiesta celebrations; schools have the day off and it is truly a San Antonio tradition. Battle of Flowers kicks off the ten day long festivities through out the city.
