Every since my semester in Copenhagen I have been obsessed with anything and everything that has to do with Europe. Travel blogs are now the closest thing I have for comparison as I count down the days, and pennies, until the next flight leaves. My new favorite: Flying The Nest.

Meet Stephen and Jess, a young couple from Australia that share passions of traveling, photography and film making and explore the world in order to, “meet people that open our eyes and hearts towards what really matters in life.”

Like many travel blogs, the assignment began just to simply record their adventures but quickly turned into, “a visual representation of our experiences, an embodiment of our work and a platform for endless inspiration.” Flying The Nest has become their placement in history and mark on the world.

One of my favorite articles they have recently posted includes the best apps for travelers (these could also be used in our everyday life). The purpose of the list is to help travelers become more like locals in a foreign place. Here are a few of my favorites from the list that I used in my travels.

Local Eats: includes only local and independently-owned restaurants. Their is also a GPS “what’s near me” feature in order to help find the closest food places to that current location.

Airbnb: people from around the world put their flats, rooms, tree houses and even boats online to rent at the fraction of the price of a hotel. I used this in my travels through Europe and highly suggest!

WiFi Finder: using GPS, the closest free & paid wireless locations are available so you do not have to look silly asking every person on the street. WiFi Finder is located in 144 countries with over 650,000 locations.
