A Look at the Power of LinkedIn

How LinkedIn can improve an organization’s reach

When you think about LinkedIn, what comes to mind? You might think about networking opportunities or searching for potential jobs, but you might not realize the power LinkedIn has in promoting a business. LinkedIn’s power in creating buzz around a company is endless and needs to be when developing social media strategies for organizations.

When LinkedIn launched in 2003, the platform was more about the individual than the group. The platform helped professionals build their careers, share their success, and network with people in similar industries. Yet, there has been a shift in the power LinkedIn holds for promoting businesses. And as the blog HubSpot sums it up, “LinkedIn allows you to drive traffic to your website, identify quality leads, share your expertise through thought-leadership content, and grow your network. It’s also a great way to market job openings and attract new talent to your company.”

The power LinkedIn has to get people to notice your business can be done in various ways. According to LinkedIn’s blog, some of the most powerful ways to grab people’s attention I through “visual, relatable, and useful” content. But what does this mean? To harness the power of LinkedIn, you need to look outside of the individual company. You need to create posts that relate to that organization’s industry as a whole. For instance, if your company deals with shipping and logistics, create posts that talk about some of the supply chain issues impacting the world and how your company is getting past this issue.

The idea of cultivating your business through LinkedIn posts is also done by using the proper hashtags. When used correctly, hashtags can draw new audiences to a company’s page. For example, using the logistics industry example again, if you use the hashtag “supply chain,” you can draw more people to your page who want to know more about this industry.

Finally, another subtle way to attract people to your brand on LinkedIn is through “playful” posts. This “playful” style means you don’t have to fall into the trap that LinkedIn is purely formal. Add some dimension to your company posts by posing “would you rather” questions.

With LinkedIn having 900 million users in over 200 countries, the power this platform has to grow your business will only increase. And it is essential to start utilizing LinkedIn for your business now rather than later.
