As Graduation Nears, I Look Back on My Time at SMU
I don’t know if this is the norm or not, but the first time I set foot on SMU’s campus I knew it was where I was meant to spend the next four years of my life. The campus was beautiful, the city is amazing and SMU was far enough away from home but close enough for comfort.
Upon move-in day at SMU I was more than excited to start college. Not once was I homesick or lonely. As an only-child I do not like being alone so college seemed daunting however at SMU I never had that feeling.
SMU has become a home to me in the truest sense of the word. Here I was where I was able to grow into the person I have become; to try new things and learn valuable lessons about myself and others. I have met life-long friends and have been fortunate to take challenging but interesting courses and take full advantage of everything SMU has to offer.
From Innsbruck to London and Taos, the opening of the Bush Presidential Center and the famous Boulevards I have been able to have unique experiences that were once in a lifetime opportunities as well as have the most fun four years I could have asked for.
Thinking about leaving this home and moving onto the next adventure feels scary at times but I know that I can always come back here and feel at home. Although I’m not moving far, I have a feeling that my world is about to change completely. And I couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds.
