Now Bumble is no longer used just for dating thanks to the launch of Bizz which is a new mode on the app designed for professional networking. Bizz follows the “women make the first move” concept that the dating app was built on. But, rather than swiping for dating users swipe to find professional networking connections.
Bizz is a new mode in the Bumble app used for professional networking. It lets users swipe to find connections to network with Bumble’s 20 million users. The main goal Bumble tries to accomplish through Bizz is to help clear up the gray areas in networking that make women feel uncomfortable. Like the dating portion of the app, Bizz lets women choose who they want to talk to. Now Bumble is no longer used just for dating thanks to the launch of Bizz.
In an interview with W Magazine, Bumble founder, Whitney Wolfe Herd says that one of the motivations behind launching Bizz because users say they don’t want to use their Bumble account exclusively for dating. Now if users who don’t want to date for a few weeks or at all can still use the app. Users can go and edit their profile to say “I’m just looking to network.” Bumble’s own Human Resources team is on the app. Bumble is committed to hiring 10 people discovered through Bizz.
So far, initial responses have been pretty good to the new Bizz addition to the app. Whitney Wolfe says that there are more matches and swipes per user. In addition, people are receptive to the idea of getting out there and networking. Many people also like how you get more of an immediate response when networking on Bizz as opposed to LinkedIn.
Bizz changed the status quo of business networking by putting women at the forefront of fostering professional opportunities. It will be interesting to see if Bizz will become as popular as Bumble.
