New Apps Sense Trouble and Alert Police

Attacks in broad daylight have been going on for quite some time. However, the recent attack of Sherri Papini, who was allegedly abducted for three weeks is making headlines, and making people think.

Papini’s family says she had her cell phone with her when she was kidnapped. So, could your smartphone be a safety mechanism when you’re out alone? Apps to protect you while alone

Thanks to recent apps and gadgets created, your smartphone could in fact save your life.

Imagine getting off of work late at night, and walking alone to your car. Women, especially, are at a higher risk of getting attacked in this situation.

The following apps and gadget promise to protect individuals, especially women, and help them avoid attackers:

  1. Wearsafe– A virtual panic button at your fingertips. This gadget is wearable and can click right to your keys. If you are feeling like you are in trouble, click the button and it auto records up to 60 seconds. The gadget then sends the recording to friends with the users pinpoint location, letting them know they are in trouble and need help. Wearsafe is affordable, costing $5 a month and works with iPhone and Android devices.
  2. bSafe– An app that records video as soon as you trigger an alert. Not only does the app start recording video, but an alarm goes off as well. After, the app calls and texts a friend. Again, this is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
  3. Lifeline Response– This app not only tracks you, but calls the police as well. Users walking alone can hold down their thumb on the screen. If your thumb comes off, it sets off an alarm. The alarm then alerts the local police to come to your exact location. If it was an accident, you may enter in a code you set up to deactivate the alarm.

The above gadget and apps are only a few of the many technological advancements that can save your life. A simple download or purchase can help put you out of harms way.
