In 2009 Disney/Pixar released the movie up. The movie an old man, who attached ballons to his how and flew to south america. The movie was a huge hit and was even nominated for best picture at the 2010 Academy Awards.
Man Attaches House To Balloons
After seeing the movie the one question on everyone’s mind was would that even be possible???
One man by the name of Jonathan Trappe is attempting to turn this fantasy into a reality. He is aiming to complete a 2,500 mile journey across the atlantic ocean in a seven foot lifeboat carried by 365 huge helium balloons. Just like in the movie Jonathan launched a house of his own into the sky like up.
Now one might ask, how is this even possible?
To make the house fly Jonathan attached hundreds of helium filled weather balloons. These ballons are much bigger than birthday party ballons.
Trappe is not novice when it comes to these types of experience. In 2010 he flew over the english channel with a chair attached to ballons. Jonathan Trappe, 38, took off just like the 78-year-old character Carl Frederickson in the hit movie. Trappe has invested $170,000 into his Atlantic dream, for which he’s been training his whole career, and now he’s launching a site so ordinary people can play their part this amazing adventure.
