The interpretation of comic book superhero into film is no new trend in Hollywood. But in the past 7-8 years, Marvel Comic books has transformed it’s franchise into Marvel Movies. Whether you’re a die hard DC Comics fan or a Marvel fan, there’s no denying that Marvel Movies have begun creating an empire. Even if this empire is solely based on the number of movies they have produced in the past few years.
X-Men in Abundance
For decades there have been occasional renditions of the original Marvel comic books in Marvel movies and Marvel TV shows. It’s no surprise that this trend has continued into recent years. In 2000, however, X-Men was released (under 20th Century Fox) and Marvel movies were on the rise. From the year 2000 to 2014, Marvel Movies have created 7 X-Men movies, each grossing just as much if not more than the next. And in next 4 years, there are already 5 more X-Men movies (including one spin off) in pre-production.
Marvel Movies Continue in Numbers
Since the release of Iron Man in 2008 by Walt Disney Studios, Marvel Movies has somewhat shifted it’s brand from the classic superhero movie, to movies with average relatable characters and a bit of a comedic spin. It’s no secret that the marketing used in Disney’s Marvel Movies creates a buzz worthy of even Forbe’s recognition.
With ten Marvel Movies produced since 2008 and twelve to be released in the next 4 years, some people claim that there are too many comic books, and that comic book renditions is al the Hollywood has turned into in recent years. Nonetheless, comic book screenplays, no matter what franchise they come from, are some of the highest grossing movies in Hollywood. So whether you think that Marvel Movies are too liberal with their production numbers, no one can deny that they are short of demand.
