It’s hard to imagine life without the “book.” In addition, that usually also consists of tabs open with Twitter, Pintrest, Tumblr, Youtube, and the list is endless. Yet there is also an unusual tendency among every few friends or acquaintances who decide to put all caution to the wind, and straight up delete their Facebook. Its respectable, but curious.
Bosker relays the facts and first and foremost, says that these individuals are likely men. (71.5 percent) Additionally, the biggest issue and factor for those bold enough to do so, have to do with issues regarding privacy. Bosker writes, “Not surprisingly, concerns over privacy topped the list as the most popular reason for quitting Facebook. Forty-eight percent of those who’d left the site said they were motivated to leave because they had reservations about how their personal information was being used.”
Bosker then outlines the quasi-anti-conformism of it all, “Many Facebook refusers actually revel in their difference from the mainstream, seeing it as a mark of distinction, superior taste, and identification with an elite social stratum.”

Suggestion: experiment suspending your FB account temporarily (fear not.)
No worries since it’s not convenient for them to decrease you as a number to be advertised to, they make it difficult -3 or 4 steps. Worse if you use FB data to sign up to other apps or sites, quite feasibly every time you log in to them your FB account gets automatically reactivated.
It’s hard to stay of the cyber-grid these days.
While I was on vacation without any social media or phone, it was really invigorating! However, I don’t know how long I could do it! We have become very reliant on our social media and technology — I doubt many people are able to go against the grain!
