Only a week away, kids are getting very, very excited for Halloween. Copious amounts of candy, costumes, and staying up past bedtime? A 10 year old’s dream. Well, now those over the age of 21 have a reason to be excited for Halloween, too. Vivino, an app for wine enthusiasts, pairs the perfect wine with your favorite Halloween Candy. Vivino just released its second annual “Candy and Wine Match Maker” chart that matches 14 of the most popular candies with everything from pinot grigio to merlot. 

Stephen Favrot, Vivino’s VP of Marketing commented on the app saying, “Halloween is so focused on kids, but there are parents out there. And I’m sure that some of them wouldn’t mind having a glass of wine. This is a perfect excuse for them. ”

The chart (listed on the right) takes 14 Halloween candies on the left, then connects them via lines to groups of wine from white to red to dessert. For example, say you want to binge on a bag of mini-Snickers (that may or may not have been set aside for trick-or-treaters), you simply find the snickers bar, then follow one of three lines to to its wine pairing. The Snickers’ lines lead to either a medium red, a bold red, or a dessert win. Just grab a bottle a glass and Voilà! An easy way to enhance the Halloween experience.

So how did Vivino go about creating this brilliant guide? “We ate our fair share of candy,” said Favrot. According to Adweek, “The Vivino tasters looked for the same flavor notes found in main-dish entrées and matched them using their experienced palates. The house staff then checked its results with some handpicked oenophiles in its user base of 11.4 million.”

Clearly, the Vivino team is made up of wine geniuses; it takes a genius to find a decent wine pairing for chewable Nerds. Bravo, Vivino. You just made a lot of moms very excited for Halloween.
