Have you ever downloaded a third party app to stitch together multiple images? Or an app that shares time lapse videos? With Instagram’s latest update, combining different pictures on on your smartphone into one image is easier than than to share engaging photos with your followers.
What is Instagram’s New Layout App?
Competing against third-party apps is no easy feat, but with Instagram’s name and prominence within the digital community it will not discourage users to switch over to their latest app upgrade. The new Layout app will allow users to choose between eleven new layouts that are pre-made. For an simple user experience, Instagram has a “Faces” feature which uses facial detection to allow the app to choose camera roll image featuring people. Additionally, the “Recents” feature shows the thirty most recent photos from your camera roll and allows you to choose them via the app as well.
Just like most photo editing apps, the Layout app allows one to resize, edit, zoom, flip and mirror the image in order to adjust any image to your liking. By selecting either the Instagram, Facebook or other social media options offered, after saving an edited image, it uploads directly to the selected network effortlessly. Additionally, the “Photo Booth” feature allows users to take selfies from their front facing camera to add to their picture layouts too. Overall, the app is truly made for all audience as people who don’t have an Instagram or Facebook accounts may still use the app to edit photos and save them to their camera rolls. As a Forbes article points out, Instagram’s Layout app won’t create much competition amongst third-party apps but will become a simple alternative for those seeking simplicity and limited functionality.
