Out with the new, in with the…newer: Web design is still a fairly new career path, considering many jobs have been around for hundreds of years, but the emergence of artificial intelligence makes even a new concept outdated.
Technology is constantly advancing. It makes our lives easier and our work more efficient — or does it? The growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has proven to be a problem for some workers, specifically in offices and banks, who have lost their jobs to machines. But should everyone prepare to compete for their job with a robot? Probably not quite yet.
On the other hand, web designers should be ready to prove their worth. Enter The Grid, a recently launched startup that hopes to use software, instead of humans, to design websites. The Grid’s platform focuses on AI programming that takes your desired components, and designs a website around it — automatically. For the technology challenged, this might come as a blessing. But for someone who has spent hours upon hours studying code, artificial intelligence is public enemy number one.
