Imogen Heap, famous English singer-songwriter and composer has an exciting new project that will forever change the way music is made. Imogen Heap has created a musical glove. She is working with a team of musicians, artists, engineers, sciences, and wearable devices company, Mi.Mu, to create a glove that will change the way music is made.
Mi.Mu’s goal is to steer musicians away from dials and computer screens and lead them to the creation of music with gesture control.
The gloves have traditional bend censors so music is created based on the composer’s hand movement. The glove is able to sense the orientation of the users hand. It captures the flex of the fingers, open or closed fist, direction of the hand, and any sharp movements. Music is moved around the scale because of your movement. Moving your hand up, the pitch shifts higher, extending your index finger adds reverb, and snapping your palm shut brings all the sounds to a halt.
The original model was large and expensive with a lot of wires, but over the last year, the group has condensed it majorly. It now is down to a simple size glove with built-in Wi-Fi circuitry.
This wearable device will do much more than create beautiful music. Many people believe that Mi.Mu will integrate well with patients who suffer from hearing loss, blindness, autism, tremors, and many other illnesses.
This device is advancing everyday and has the potential to change music forever.
