This past week it seems that Ebola is on everyone’s mind. It is on the news, Internet and what everyone’s talking about. But is it as big of a problem the media is making it out to be? Should we be afraid of Ebola?

The related fear of Ebola has risen this week for many reasons; an infected patient died in a Dallas hospital, two more have become infected this week, a clear plan of how to prevent and cure the disease hasn’t been known and many are comparing Ebola as the next AIDS.

But, our fear of Ebola has become worse than the actual problem.

Ebola’s in West Africa is much more damaging. The death toll is rising and people continue to become infected mostly because they don’t have the medical advancements the US does. Globally, West Africa is getting help from other nations and they are making more of an effort to contain the outbreak and care for the patients.

The reality is, if you’re anywhere outside of West Africa, the risk is quite low. America has been very cautious. Possible infected people are being monitored and airports and hospitals are taking measures to screen people and protect the public.
