Ever wanted to travel back in time? Well now you can with Google map with the street view feature, which now allows users go back in time to see how cities, neighborhoods and attractions have changed since 2007.
On April 23 Google Maps introduced a new feature that allows users to view images of streets that date back 2007. This feature allows older google map images to be available online. It gives users the opportunity to see their neighborhood’s building and iconic landmarks transition as years passed by and compare to how they currently look.
Now with the street view feature users will have the opportunity to view the transition of building constructions such as Freedom Tower in New York, or the Stadiums in Brasil being constructed for the World Cup. With this new feature Google maps allows viewers to see all the images that they had stored. The feature will appear as a small window that is activated when the user clicks on the clock icon. Then the user can swipe the slider at lower part of the window to view the older images of the selected place.
Google maps team stated that the time machine will be available in almost every location where Street View operates. For major metro areas, there will be 20 or more “time slices” to check out, while for most locations, there will be two or three.
