I recently had a friend visit from my hometown because she met a guy who lives close to me. When she first told me she had met him online, I was a little shocked because I never would have guessed she would be into online dating. The real kicker is that she met him on Twitter. This is a first for me, and I could not believe it. This got me thinking, are we so far gone that we can’t even go to a bar to meet someone?

Online dating sites have become more and more popular over the years. Since our society is always on the go, it has become harder to take a break and go out to meet someone. The advantage of uploading a profile with all of our information and having a site look for someone who would be compatible makes it convenient.

The show Catfish on MTV is a perfect example of what can go wrong when people meet online. Most of the couples that are on the show have lied to one another about what they really look like, and even their gender in one case.
