Nextdoor is a free social networking app on a mission to bring back a sense of community to neighborhoods around the world. This app allows individuals in the same neighborhood to communicate easily with their neighbors about anything from barbeques to local crime.
Unlike other social networking sites, Nextdoor is free of advertisements because they desire to make the site as close to intimate real life conversation as possible. Not only does this app make communicating with your neighborhoods via this site easy, it is also safe. Every neighbor has to use their real address and sign in with their real name. You must verify this information by providing your credit card information or by having the company send you a postcard that you can verify that you received. Nextdoor also states that they never share information with advertisers and that each website is protected by password and encrypted by HTTPS.
Through this app you can support your local neighborhood by recommending local business and service providers. You can also ask your neighbors to recommend trustworthy babysitters, plumbers, handymen, or restaurants. You can also sell or donate things you no longer need. Lastly, this app allows you to instantaneously alert your neighbors on important information such as a lost animal or local crime in order to make sure your neighbors are as up to date as they possibly could be.
According to Mashable, this site already has more than 3,600 neighborhoods in 48 states, with about 22 new neighborhoods signing up every day.

This is a great article and a great idea. With how connected everyone is because of social media, it makes sense to connect with the people closest to you. On a side note: multiple apps keep coming out that are so brilliant yet simplistic I always find myself wondering “why didn’t I think of that!?”
This actually seems like a really great idea. I love the idea of community involvement and unity. Makes me think about growing up and being really close with all of my neighbors. Was really interesting to read that this is going to be an up and coming app, it is wild what apps they are creating!
