Not only are celebrities doing this, but brands are also. According to a social media watchdog group, Pepsi is one of the major brands that has purchased followers. What these businesses don’t realize is that most of the time quality over quantity is what is important in the long run. It is great to have a ton of followers, but if half of them are bought, the only thing they are gaining is buzz. Just because you have more followers than another brand or celebrity does not mean that people are focusing on your brand. People are going to focus and follow those who say and do things that they agree with.

The amazing part of all of this is that it is super cheap to purchase followers. For example if you were to pay just $5.00, you would get 10,500 followers. It is no wonder that celebrities are buying groups of followers if it is this cheap.

Inflating the number of followers you have on Twitter is not illegal, but it is pretty depressing that someone is so shallow that they buy fake followers to make themselves look more popular. Hopefully, these people will figure out that buying fake followers really does nothing for your image, especially when people find out that you have purchased fake followers.
